Although we are still being very cautious about re-opening for full services, we held a time of prayer and reflection on Good Friday.
For two hours in the afternoon the church was open to all for quiet prayer. All covid safety guidance was followed, and many came to sit for a while. Live music was played, thanks to our pianists, and reflective images were shown on the screens. Many of those who took part said how much they had enjoyed this time of reflection.
During the period of Lent, the cross, which in previous years has been in the sanctuary during Lent, was this year placed in the front window. The Lenten symbols were still placed on it each week for passers by to see. On for Easter Sunday the cross was decorated with flowers. In another break with tradition, these flowers were all hand made using many materials (fabric, wool, paper etc) by church members and the Brownies. It is a wonderful image of Easter for all to see. We are now thinking of a way to use the amazing flowers in a more permanent display in the church.
