Report of Women’s Fellowship Meeting - Monday 15th February 2010
Linda Lees presided at the service and was also the Speaker. She gave a most interesting and informative talk on the origin of proverbs and sayings and amazed members with her knowledge of these. It was quite a short meeting as Linda is looking after her sister who has had an operation and we wish Elaine a speedy recovery.
Next week, the Speaker will be Mrs. Kath Jordon and Joan Streets will preside. Everyone welcome to join us.
Report of Women’s Fellowship Meeting – Monday 22nd February 2010:
Joan Streets presided at the Women’s Fellowship meeting on 22nd February and Mrs. Kath Jordon was the Speaker.
After the devotions led by Joan, Vera Brown presented Mrs. Win Colton with some flowers and a card to celebrate her 95th birthday which is on the 24th of this month. We all sang “Happy Birthday” to her and wished her “many happy returns”.
Kath then gave a fascinating talk on her early life in the West Midlands and spoke in depth and very fondly of her grandmother who had a large family, a business and many other commitments but managed it all with a smile! She then recounted the story of Mary and Joseph searching for the young Jesus when he was lost and eventually found in the temple. Throughout her talk Kath emphasised the close bonds of families and finished by quoting part of the hymn “Bind us together Lord” which we than sang together. Kath said a final prayer and after the Grace was said, we enjoyed tea and cakes in honour of Win’s birthday.
Next week is a member’s afternoon and Pauline Rogers will preside. Please do come and bring a small ornament, pot or dish which has a special meaning for you and we will share our memories of how and when they were acquired. Everyone will be welcome
